Bookbinding
I made a new journal recently and titled it Time Traveler, the theme I chose for my new sketchbook project through http://www.thesketchbookproject.com. Here you can see the starter pages of my journal. The successful pages will make it into my sketchbook for the project.

Weird and Wacky creatures
Today Jake and I are in the spirit of Halloween!! Inspired by the cracks we see in the sidewalk, Jake and I imagined a number of silly creatures. We drew them in pencil, then outlined in sharpie, and colored with colored pencil. Don't forget to include lots of interesting patterns!! Be inspired by insects, animals, and people while studying the cracks in your sidewalk. Take your digital camera along to capture those lines!!

Handmade paper bound books
These are a couple of examples of handmade paper books that I did with my students when I was student teaching in a high school setting. We made paper in the classroom and after pressing out the sheets the students learned a number of methods of binding so they could make journals from their handmade paper.
Students added dye to the vat of pulp and flower metals and leaves to add visual interest and color to their pulp which produced a variety of interesting effects.

Griffis Sculpture Park
Jake, Olive, and I hiked Griffis Sculpture Park today and climbed in, on, and around all the neat sculptures. This park is a great hike with outstanding photo opportunities. Located in Ashford, NY on a back country road, the site offers scenic views in the fall of the excellent colored foliage. We then visited downtown Ellicottville, NY, to take a peek at the treats for sale and taste the festival food. Lots of crafters, music, and food. What a great day!!
